Launched in 2010, Mackay Green Energy Inc. (MGE) focuses on the development of various renewable energy systems designed to efficiently convert Biomass to energy, fuels and bio-products. The company not only complies with the standards but also opts to utilize green technologies in its mission to bring renewable and sustainable energy to the Philippines. With this, it created regular jobs for Filipinos and annually helped by donating in the Philippine National School for the Blind and everything the school needs. Indeed, MGE also has a heart for Filipinos especially to the youth. In fact, various projects are being planned and realized every year.

One of these big projects that happened in Negros Island was the partnership of MGE with Mosser Environment Corporation. Last August 13, 2020 there was a signing of a 15-year contract of the Biomass Project at Mosser Group of Companies Compound, Barangay Talaban, Himamaylan City.

This year, Mr. James Mackay, the Chairman of Mackay Green Energy, with his generous heart, donated a 448 square meters at Sitio Ilahud, Barangay To-oy, Himamaylan City. The said donation was given to the barangay to be used as a Multi-purpose Basketball Court Pavement. A groundbreaking ceremony took place on February 18, 2021. During the ceremony, Mr. James Mackay, the Chairman of MGE, along with Hon. Rogelio Raymund I. Tongson, Jr., Himamaylan City Mayor, Hon. Tezardo Tejada, Barangay Captain, Mr. Jerson Nolasco, Operations Head-PH of MGE and some barangay officials and the people in the community attended the said event.

In behalf of the people in the barangay, Hon. Tejada thanked the generosity of Mr. James Mackay and the honorable mayor. He said that this project will be an avenue for all to develop their skills in different sports and at the same time this pavement will serve as a place for the different activities and gatherings of the community.

On the other hand, in his words, Mayor Tongson encouraged all folks in the barangay to maximize and utilize the Multi-purpose Basketball Court Pavement once it will be done. He also expressed his gratitude and acknowledged the kindness of Mr. James Mackay

“Amidst all the budget of the city, if we don’t get the property donated, we cannot do anything. We also appeal to continue supporting Himamaylan and its people.” Mayor Tongson added.

With a glee in his face, Mr. James Mackay also delivered a message to all the people he truly care of and he said, “We are not just here to give you Basketball court but to give you long-term jobs and no more overseas. You can bring the work here with the beautiful land that you have, you can go renewable. The Bana Grass will give you the fuel that will change your Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and having this kind mayor will drive you to success. With me and the foundation, we could have one great statement-be proud. Freedom!”

For the information of everyone, Mr. James Mackay is from Scotland, United Kingdom. He travelled the world and left school at 14. He bought a company in the United States which has an office in Manila, Philippines. At first, he went to the Philippines in year 2000 for just a visit but it just happened that it was his birthday and one of his guests in dinner was Imelda Marcos and some prominent people in the country.

In his visit here, he saw what poverty is. With that, he asked himself if what he could have done to the people. During the party, there was a blind boy that made him inspired to focus on a charity for the blind. That is when the birth of the foundation.

Despite the fact that the MGE was blocked many times in the Philippines by the rich and famous, yet it still managed to expand and grow its production. Since 2018 until now, the Biomass industry has been neglecting MGE to supply, while they already know that the Bana Grass can provide jobs to the people. We would like to change that mindset for the poor people and the economy of the Island.  Since the country is an agricultural land, it becomes the leading platform to become the good source of the production of Bana Grass.

During the interview, he said “We talk about renewable energy in the Philippines. We talk about the GDP. We talk about keeping our Filipino workers here and making the same money. Bana Grass, due to its unique characteristics, will change the GDP of the Philippines up to 19% and it is where the income will come from.”

Lastly, he said that Filipinos don’t need inspiration but to look ahead. Filipinos should be proud of who they are because Filipinos are heroes.
